We are aware of a recent sale of this print with the same edition numbers as being offered here.

This is the response from the Mapplethorpe Foundation:

"We have researched the matter by contacting the original owner of the work offered in London at Sotheby's as well as the people who worked in the administration of the artist's studio at the time the work was created and placed with the original collectors. We believe that there was a mistake in numbering and that the edition number, 2/10, was repeated in error."
