Condition Report*:
Overall in good condition, the cobra is beautifully defined, as is the background decoration. There are two minor vertical hairline cracks in the middle section of the panel, which is typical and expected with age, this is hardly visible and does not at all distract from the design. The gold leaf background is of a nice rich color and in good condition with only very minor wear. The backside is beautifully finished in red lacquer. The actual piece is illustrated in Alastair Duncan's new book on Art Deco. This lot is an iconic work of the Art Deco period, the estimate is very conservative.
