During her most productive years as an oil painter, Janet Gaynor worked from her studio at the Gregory-Gaynor ranch in Desert Hot Springs, while Paul went into the squab business and did quite well with it. Garden flowers were Janet's favorite subject and most often she painted old-fashioned blossoms such as geraniums, petunias, and nasturtiums. These are featured in the present work against a lush screen of white oleander.
