Little is known of the enigmatic artist who painted this unique visage. William Ekgren's sole known, published output consists of three comic book covers for 1950s publisher, St. John Publications (Strange Terrors #4 and Weird Horrors #6 and #7). The original owner of this painting acquired it directly from the artist in the early 1950s. It is still in its original frame.
