A SAN ILDEFONSO ETCHED REDWARE JAR

decorated on the shoulder with a finely etched band enclosing a pair of confronting avanyus, inset with three turquoise stones, a fish with hatched body above and a similar fish with stippled body below, two rows of fine heishi shell inset around the neck, and small etched bear paw on the back

Height: 5 ¾ inches

Condition Report*: In overall very good condition. No major breaks cracks or chips. Surface with approx. three minor (each less than 1/4" in length) scuffs under the rim and three areas of abraded surface (one approx. 1/4", one approx. 3/4" and one 1" in length). These abrasions are intermittent throughout these lengths. Another area, approx. 2 x 2" of minor crazing. Two dings near the base. No apparent restoration.
