Raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, Diedre Buchmoyer is no newcomer to the numismatic world. Born into a coin family, by the age of twelve Diedre began working on the weekends at her parents' retail shop and regularly attended the Baltimore coin show. By the time Diedre graduated high school she had developed a customer service division, was a delegate in the Miss Maryland USA pageant, played on the Junior Olympics basketball team and graduated with scholastic merits. An avid traveler, Diedre has lived in Manhattan, Japan, Belize and Hawaii. In 2002, she graduated with honors from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland with a BA in Art History, a concentration in archaeology and a double minor in business management and studio art. She was awarded the Hudson Trust scholarship for academic excellence and participated in a Mayan excavation of the Pre/Late Classic period. Diedre has worked full-time in the numismatic arena for the past six years (the last four as Chief Operating Officer for Stack's Sales East Coast, LLC, where she bought and sold rare coins and assisted with several prestigious sales including the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection). She is a member of the American Numismatic Association, Florida United Numismatics and The Industry Council for Tangible Assets. A patron of the arts, Diedre is a Young Benefactor of the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, a member of the Renaissance Society of America and a collector of ancient coins and nineteenth century artworks. She currently resides in south Florida with her husband and two bull dogs.

Born 1926 in Boston, Mass., the youngest of 3 sons of David & Alice Halperin. Grew up in Wakefield, Mass., north of Boston & graduated from Wakefield High School & entered Harvard College at age 16. In June, 1943, at age 17 enlisted in U.S. Navy & was assigned to an Officer Training program & was commissioned as an Ensign at age 18, probably the youngest Line Officer in the Navy. Was assigned to the Light Cruiser USS St. Louis in the Pacific Fleet & served as a Turret Officer in command of 60 men. Then was designated as Assistant Executive Officer. As the St. Louis was returning to the States, he was transferred to the Light Cruiser USS Springfield to replace the Lieutenant Commander who was Assistant Executive Officer of that vessel. During his service with the Pacific Fleet, he served in the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan & China as well as serving as OOD during the occupation landing in Formosa (Taiwan). At age 19, he was qualified as an OOD on the Bridge as well as a qualified Communications Watch Officer with Top Secret Clearance.

After release to inactive duty in 1946, he returned to Harvard & earned his A.B. degree & entered Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration where he earned his MBA degree. Shortly after graduation he started a business that grew to include manufactured products in the promotional products industry, golf supplies business & Pharmaceutical ampoules. He then sold this business to a New York Stock Exchange company in 1964 & continued to work for that parent company until 1974 at which time he retired to try a new career.

During his operation of the above business, he was elected President of the New England Trade Association of the Promotional Products industry & then, in 1970 & 1971, he was elected President of the National Trade Association, which then consisted of about 600 companies. He then lead the merger with another similar Trade Association, which combination now has several thousand member companies representing several billion dollars of business.

After retiring from the above business, he was asked by the Governor of Massachusetts to act as his Chief Financial Officer for his 1974 re-election campaign. He also served as the Managing General Partner of 3 partnerships, which were all successful & provided fine returns to the investors. He also served as a Director & Member of the Investment Committee of the Grove Hall Savings Bank, a Director of the Harbor National Bank and a Director of the Patriot Bank Corporation wherein he served on the Audit Committee. He also served for 8 years, representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Member of the Board ot Trustees of the Brigham & Women's Hospital, which is consistently ranked among the top ten hospitals in the United States.

He has also served as a Board Member of the Pine Brook Country Club, Atlantis Country Club and Banyan Golf Club where he also served as the Vice President. He has also worked for numerous charities in Boston, Cambridge & Palm Beach to aid in their fund raising efforts.

He married Audrey Brudno in 1950 & they will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary in 2005. They have lived in Atlantis, Florida since 1981. They have four married children and ten grandchildren. It is a very close family in which there is substantial contact among the 18 of them including frequent visits en masse.
