Texas Art Brings Star-Studded Results in Heritage Auction!
DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Auction Galleries held their latest Signature Auction of Early Texas Art in their Dallas, Texas world headquarters on Saturday, June 10, 2006. The auction realized $854,640 overall, although after-auction sales are still ongoing, and are expected to raise the total to even higher levels.
"I'm thrilled with the results of this auction" said Larry Boettigheimer, Director of Early Texas Art Auctions for Heritage. "There were a number of wonderful pieces offered to the collecting public, including many works that are not only artistically significant, but also capture the spirit of the great state of Texas. Thirteen world-record prices were established for works by Robert William Wood, Murray Bewley, Walton Leader, Doel Reed, Donald Vogel, Dollie Nabinger, Jessie Davis, William Elliott, Jack Boynton, Ben Culwell, Don Brown, Buck Winn, and Amy Freeman Lee."
"One of the most gratifying things about this auction was the high level of support and participation," Boettigheimer said. "Our auction room was filled to capacity, with several hundred people in attendance, many of whom were actively bidding. It seems that awareness of both Texas Art and Heritage as a new force in the world of Fine Art is really starting to take hold."

"As a result, it gives me great pleasure to report that we've set a new record for the sale of a work by Robert Wood," Boettigheimer continued. "The painting, Floral Spectrum, 1941, a 29" by 43" oil on canvas, realized $45, 410, a new high watermark for this important artist."
"I'm now even more excited about our next auction, which is scheduled for November 9-11 in Dallas, and I'd invite anyone with any interest in art from and about the cultural development of Texas to visit our website at www.HeritageAuctions.com/TexasArt," said Boettigheimer.
