Texas Art Shines in Upcoming Auction!

Dallas, Texas: On June 10, 2006, Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas, Texas will offer an impressive array of important paintings by early Texas artists.

"This is a very exciting event," said Larry Boettigheimer, Director of Early Texas Art Auctions for Heritage, "with a number of wonderful pieces being offered to the collecting public. These are works that are not only artistically significant, but also capture the spirit of the great state of Texas."

"Robert Wood's Floral Spectrum, 1941, for example, is a large, early tour-de-force bluebonnet painting," said Boettigheimer, "perfectly complemented by Robert Jenkins Onderdonk's Bluebonnet Landscape, a rare and dramatic view of Texas' signature flower in the early morning."

"Of course, there's more to Texas art than simply bluebonnets," said Boettigheimer. "Buck Winn's Sheep Shearing, a Regionalist masterpiece from Texas' most important muralist is a great example, as is Don Brown's Swamp Girl. Featured on the cover of Southwest Review, this is, without a doubt, Brown's most important painting."

"We're also extremely pleased to offer a wonderful selection of 13 oil paintings by Julian Onderdonk, The Texas Master, and the most sought-after Early Texas Artist of all," Boettigheimer said. "Paintings like October Landscape and Late Afternoon, 1909, are wonderful examples of Onderdonk's total mastery of the medium, and should inspire some very spirited bidding. Additionally, we'll feature 19 paintings from the estate of Robert Preusser, including an important suite of Abstract Expressionist works from the 1930s that predate DeKooning, Pollock and their contemporaries by more than five years."

"I invite anyone with any interest in Fine Art to visit our website at www.HeritageAuctions.com/TexasArt and look over our catalog," said Boettigheimer. "There is some exquisite work being offered in this auction, and I'm sure that no one who appreciates fine paintings will want to miss this opportunity."

Heritage Auction Galleries will offer these and other important works by Texas artists in their upcoming Signature auction, to be held June 10, 2006, 4:00 pm at their headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
