From the Jerry Weist Collection.

Author Greg Sadowski provides a vivid portrait of the critical response to Krigstein's stellar Ray Bradbury adaptation in his 2002 biography B. Krigstein Volume One (1919-1955): "His calligraphic Eastern-influenced graphics were perfectly suited to this Bradbury classic. As Bhob Stewart notes, it was hard to believe it was adapted from a work of prose: 'There is an almost perfect affinity between writer and artist; Krigstein has depicted the emotions and moods that Bradbury created with words.' Jerry Weist writes in the 1970 fanzine Squa Tront, 'Here was a free-flowing line that no one had ever attempted--spontaneous in execution...free in expression, subtle and diverse in its technique and finesse....' Stewart praised it as the greatest comics story of all time, and Bradbury himself was moved enough to write EC: ''The Flying Machine' is the single finest piece of art-drawing I've seen in years. Beautiful work; I was so touched and pleased.'"

"Adapted from a story by Ray Bradbury" photostat from page 1 is included with the lot.
