AN AMERICAN SILVER AND SILVER GILT MARTELÉ CIGAR VASE
Gorham Manufacturing Co., Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1899
Marks: (eagle over) (lion-anchor-G), 950-1000 FINE, 8538, (date mark)
3-1/8 x 4-1/8 inches diameter (7.9 x 10.5 cm)
8.02 troy ounces

According to the Gorham archive, production began on April 28, 1899 for this cigar vase which was part of a five piece set. It was made in 11 hours using 8 ounces of silver, with an additional 25 hours of chasing time and sold for $45. The cigar vase with silver gilt to interior and bottom is engraved H 1900.
