Major nudes by Elvgren are exceedingly rare and represent some of the most desirable paintings the artist ever created; this is one of the absolute best.
The painting was reproduced as a full page as figure 238 in Gil Elvgren All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups by Charles G. Martignette and Louis K. Meisel, Taschen, 1999.
This lot is accompanied by the printed version of the artwork.

Condition Report*:
Re-lined canvas; professional varnish layer applied; scattered points of inpainting along bottom extreme edge; two areas of inpainting along upper left edge; point of inpainting to the upper edge of right arm with scattered points above her head; inpainting to upper extreme edge; otherwise in good condition. This piece is framed to an overall size of 41.25 x 31.25 in.
